Top 10 Health and Safety Myths

Have you heard the one about the trapeze artist being ordered to wear a hard hat? Or how about the students ordered to wear goggles while they play conkers? Whichever way you look at it, ‘elf and safety is an easy target whenever reporters are facing a slow news day.
Amusing as some of the stories may be, health and safety is not something to be taken lightly. Despite RoSPA’s hard work over the last ten decades, accidents are still the biggest cause of preventable death for most of our adult lives, and although we all enjoy a joke as much as the next journalist, the misery, devastation and heartache accidents cause is no laughing matter…

With this in mind we’ve decided enough is enough – it’s time to fight back! Using statistics supplied by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) we’ve put together an eye-opening infographic, illustrating the 10 most shocking safety myths out there. While some of them are so ridiculous they’re bound to make you smile, please remember the serious consequences this misinformation can have on people’s attitudes… and share with your colleagues so we can help to consign these myths to the joke books where they belong!

Is it something they would want and keep or would it be just thrown in a draw and forgotten about? Would it be used daily or just occasionally? Would they be pleased to receive this product as a free gift?

If the answer is no, look for something else. Does the product reflect company brand and service? Try to choose something that is relevant to your own products and beach balls. lip balms or even branded backpacks, company could choose services. For example, a travel
Are the products Eco-friendly? Eco-Friendly products will help you establish yourself as an environmentally friendly company and more people would love to connect themselves to your brand.

The Smarter Way to Shred

Businesses must take a stronger lead in empowering employees to keep their data safe by analysing existing procedures and implementing new ways of protecting consumers’ personal information from online hackers or theft of data by fraudsters who, for example, raid bins for crucial Analysis of frauds recorded on the CIFAS Staff Fraud Database reveals an increase in the level of fraud being committed by employees during 2012. Notably the attempt to obtain employment fraudulently (e.g. by withholding or falsely declaring information such as qualifications or previous convictions) were most common. Plus, a 22% spike in the number of dishonest actions by staff to gain a benefit by theft or deception (e.g. theft of cash from customer accounts) was recorded year on year.

Even frauds where an organisation’s staff stole customer data for personal have also increased. This year’s National Identity Fraud Prevention Campaign encourages businesses to be smart with the protection of information, whether it belongs to a customer, an individual employee or even the company’s own data.

Backed by a taskforce of partners from the public and private sector, the campaign reminds businesses and individuals of the simple measures to mitigate risk of the misuse of information: Whether information belongs to an individual or a business, never has it been more important to increase security of information given that the UK is at greatest risk of identity fraud compared to our European counterparts.

Internal Account Executives Run Riot!

In addition to our external Business Development Managers, Irongate has a team of three Internal Account Executives - Telesales as we used to call them.  The majority of their working day is spent looking after their customers and we very rarely let them out of the office. Yesterday was an exception as the team spent five hours at our Business Showcase Event at Pride Park Stadium. Mark Williams very sportingly donned the Pritt Stick suit. The resemblance was uncanny! Here he is in all his glory.

Sadie Arscott, Mark Williams and Curtis Hill.  Happy to be of service
